Kitchen Policy

• Label all personal food items with your name and date
• Store food in designated refrigerator, freezer, and pantry areas only
• Do not consume food belonging to other residents without permission
• Discard expired or spoiled food promptly
• Shared food items, when provided, must be used fairly and as directed by staff

• Clean dishes, utensils, and cookware immediately after use
• Wipe down counters, stovetops, and tables after each use
• Report broken appliances, pest sightings, or sanitation concerns to staff
• Do not leave dirty dishes or food out overnight
• Take out kitchen trash when full and follow property recycling guidelines

• Never leave cooking food unattended on the stove or in the oven
• Turn off burners and ovens when finished cooking
• Report grease fires or cooking accidents to staff immediately; call 911 if needed
• Do not use kitchen appliances for non-food purposes

During peak meal times, residents should be considerate of others waiting to use the kitchen. Properties with formal kitchen schedules will post those schedules in the kitchen area. Limit cooking time when others are waiting when possible.

Repeated failure to clean up after oneself, theft of food, or unsafe kitchen practices may result in restricted kitchen access, additional chore assignments, or lease enforcement action.
