Sober Living in Tennessee

Since January 1, 2026, Tennessee law (Public Chapter 406) has required recovery residences to be certified against a real standard before they can call themselves "sober living" or a recovery residence to referring providers, courts, and payers. TN-ARR, the state affiliate of NARR (the National Alliance for Recovery Residences), is one of only two organizations approved by TDMHSAS to certify residences in Tennessee.
